Seraucourt-le-Grand

Friday 31st March

Another 100 miles today, mostly on the A26, arriving at Seraucourt-le-Grand, SW of St. Quentin.  We have stayed at this site once before when it was running alive with fishermen, but today it's very quiet - just birdsong and the occasional quacking of ducks.  We walked into the village and beside the infant River Somme and the Canal de St. Quentin.

It's not been quite as warm as yesterday, but still very relaxing.  Our pitch is on a strip of land between two fishing lakes and we look across to a field of donkeys, brown sheep, chickens and goats.

Watching a beautiful sunset as I write this.

Les Pommiers des Trois Pays, Licques

Thursday 30th March

How lovely to be back in France!  And what weather for our first day!  The motorways to Dover were not too busy, the ferry left on time and soon we were driving around Calais past a very barren piece of land that had been the 'jungle'.  All the high wire fencing is still there, but not a soul or a tent in sight.  We still feel for those desperate people but no doubt it is a relief to the local community.  As our holiday starts the moment we touch French soil, we didn't have to travel far for our first night - just 17 miles to Licques where we quite often stay at the beginning and/or end of a trip.  The campsite is on the edge of a tired little village in rolling countryside.  We arrived about 3pm, enjoyed the sunshine, sat outside for our evening meal, then went for walk for an hour.

Mmmm .... certainly good to be back!

Just a short trip - 2 weeks and 2 days, pootling in France, aiming for Burgundy .... probably ....
Lovely to be free of hospital visits and both feeling pretty good!
